Fryderyk Chopin was born on 1 March 1810, and Polonia (Polish expoatriots) in Portland celebrates his 200th birthday anniversary on Saturday, February 27, 7pm. Chopin's 200th birthday celebration at the Polish Hall includes:

· presentation by Professor Kenneth Kleszynski
· Piano Concert - by Jim-Isaac Chua Etude C minor Op. 10 No. 12 Etude E minor Op. 25 No. 5 Waltz F major Op. 34 No. 3 Nocturne C minor Op.48 No. 1 Polonaise A flat major Op. 53 Scherzo B flat minor Op. 31 Ballade G minor Op. 23

Details: Dr. Kenneth Kleszynski is professor of music, conductor of the University Community Orchestra, and director of the music education program. Jim-Isaac Chua performed at Carnegie Hall in New York at the age of 15. In 2008, he won the International Bradshaw & Buono Piano Competition. In 2009, Jim-Isaac was the 1st prize winner of The International American Protege Piano and Strings Competition at New York. Jim-Isaac Chua was born in Manila, Philippines in 1993. Along the way, he has received master-class instructions from notable pianists and pedagogues like Andrzej Jasinski, Lee Kum Sing, Zbigniew Raubo, and Steven Spooner. Now he lives in Tri-Cities, Washington, and takes piano lessons from Hanna Dec.

2. Chopin: Desire for Love - Polish Film - Friday, March 5th, 8pm, at the Polish Library
In conjunction with the Chopin's 200th birthday anniversary, the Polish Library shows a Polish movie about Frederick Chopin. The film is in English, directed by an Oscar nominated director, Jerzy Antczak. Free entry. Refreshments are available at Grandpa's Cafe.
2. Impromptu - Film about Chopin - Friday, March 12th, 8pm, at the Polish Library
In conjunction with the Chopin's 200th birthday anniversary,the Polish Library shows an American movie about the relation between Frederick Chopin and George Sand. The film centers around the bold and controversial nineteenth century author, George Sand (Judy Davis), an unconventional woman who dressed as a man, and the frail and finicky Frederic Chopin (Hugh Grant). Free entry. Refreshments are available at Grandpa's Cafe
