Agnieszka Laska celebrates the 200th anniversary of fellow Polish expatriot artist Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin in a new work, typical of her intensely dramatic and musical choreography, bringing to the stage dancers, actors and musicians, performing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Minor in a new arrangement for string quartet by fellow Krakow artist, Bartlomiej Kominek.

The concerto, it is believed, was inspired by Konstancja Gladkowska, the first great love in the composer's life. Over his decades of self-imposed exile in Paris, Chopin wrote often to Konstancja. Laska's tribute to the legendary composer is based on his lost letters to his lost love.

ALD will be complemented by a group of hand-picked dancers from Queretaro Mexico.

Canadian pianist Chie Nagatani will interpret the score, joined by a quartet of top regional professionals.

At the IBLA New York Awards 2002 -Lincoln Center - Chie Nagatani succeeded in introducing a new level of musical energy and intensity to the evening with her energetic and dynamic solo performance of the first movement from Prokofiev's Concerto No. 3... delivered a positively intelligent, crisp, clear and powerful performance of Prokofiev's alternately lyrical and explosive music. -- JD Hixson, founder and Artistic Director of STUDIO for New Music (NY).
